The Little Things.
At times, I feel like I overlook the “small things” in life. The things that make me happy. You know.. the joys of living in a small town. The happiness of watching both of my kids grow up in front of me, beautiful sunrises on my morning walks, or colorful sunsets over the mountains at night. Even just watching my dog sniff out of the backseat and seeing the pure joy in his face.
Yes, I take the small things for granted. Each and every day, gosh darn it.
Time isn’t moving any slower either. It always finds a way of getting away from me. There will be a point in time in which I will regret not doing the things that I should have done or regret not doing them at all. As parents, each of us complain about having to tuck kids into bed late at night when we are tired, having to help them with homework, or just playing with them after a long day at work. I realize now that there will be a point in their lives in which they will not need me. I will eventually get the “Dad, I can do that myself” or “Sorry Dad, I want to hang out with my friends.”
Time doesn’t stand still for anyone and it will eventually move on without us. I continue to tell myself to live life to the absolute fullest (without any regrets) and to take a DEEP BREATH IN and enjoy the simple things in life that God has provided. These simple things are worth it in the end.
Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.
